Our Training Philosophy: Building Unflappable Kids' Ponies
Discover the iSpyaGypsy & the odd Donkey difference. We're not just training ponies; we're developing that pony you'll never forget the name of! Learn about our unique approach to raising well-adjusted, safe, and enjoyable Gypsy Cobs that are so versatile. Talk to us about what you intend to do with your pony and we can develop the specific skills you are looking for. We have enjoyed quite the array of training from ridden, harness and stock horse journeys. Not all ponies need to be able to pull a cart, wear a necklace of milk bottles and pool noodles or have a stock whip cracked overhead .. but it sure does show just how versatile these gypsy cob ponies are!

Keeping it real !
Our ponies are raised just like at your house at home, dealing with everyday paddocks in everyday weather. We focus on building confidence and resilience in a natural environment. These aren't fair-weather ponies; they're prepared for anything! While I'm not a qualified horse trainer, my lifetime around horses has given me a keen eye for what makes a fun, unflappable kids' pony – the kind I'd happily trust with my own grandkids.

Manners Matter: Everyday Behaviours for Extraordinary Ponies
Our focus is on fostering good manners and dispelling those unexpected quirks and spooks. We aim to create ponies that are well-adjusted to surprises, ready to be pulled from the paddock for any adventure. Whether it's playing games, navigating obstacles, heading to pony club, or enjoying hours of grooming for their first in-hand showing, our ponies are prepared and confident.

From Weaning to backed: The iSpyaGypsy & the odd Donkey Training Journey
The journey begins the moment they're weaned, starting with a float ride home (often with a travel buddy!). Handling starts immediately, with a strong emphasis on manners. Our matriarch mare, 'Daisy', quickly teaches them paddock etiquette and hierarchy. They're introduced to the whole "crew" on day one and integrated into daily life: tying up, patience, obstacle courses, and basic ground handling. From being led out on trails to being led on the road, long reining, introduction to harness sulky work, and lightly backed (both bitted and bitless), we ensure age-appropriate training every step of the way.
